Jeff Timpanaro

If you’ve been keeping up with this blog for a while, you’ve probably read one or more of Jeff Timpanaro’s gut-busting guest posts. (To read some of these, just punch “Timpanaro” into the search bar on your upper right.) He also has his own blog that will crack you up to no end. He’s genuinely one of my favorite people. Unfortunately, he’s got this incredibly complicated disease and he needs a new kidney.

Now you can’t just ask someone to give away a kidney, but sometimes there are people out there that are willing to help.  If you’re that guy or gal, and you’d like to get tested to see if you’re compatible,  you can email Jeff at jeff@oberata.com.

Jeff submitted his kid’s taco truck poem to me several months ago. He said I could post it if I wanted, but it might not be a good fit for the site. Can you believe the nerve of this guy? I don’t care how many kidneys you need, this is Guns and Tacos, not Osh Kosh B’ Cute Kids R-Us.com. Like I would post that snot-nosed crumbsnatcher’s cheesy poem on my site, ever.  Geez. I mean, just look at it.

Taco Truck Time – A Poem by Lachlan Timpanaro (age 3)

Swerving through traffic
But having no luck
We’re searching for lunch
At a big taco truck.

We’re tired of nuggets
We’re tired of fries
We’re sick of your burgers
No matter what size.

Slogans and prizes
And gimmicks we hate.
Just keep all your toys
And your corporate red tape.

We’d rather eat something
That’s fresh and unique
Not food that’s frozen
For 8 or 9 weeks.

Give us a taco
Or better yet
A large quesadilla
As big as a jet.

My daddy is awesome
He’ll take us there soon
It’s lunchtime, you see,
It’s almost high noon.

And there he’ll eat tacos
“Con todo,” he’ll say.
He’ll glump on the salsa
Squeeze limes all the way.

My brother, he’s tricky
I tell you no joke.
He likes to take sips
Of daddy’s Mexican coke.

And when he’s not looking
It’s a crazy idea,
But I like the salsa
On my quesadilla.

So load up the van, Daddy,
And buckle my strap.
My belly is full and
It’s time for my . . . .

ZZZZZZZZZ

  1. This is perfect, Jay. Those kids are gorgeous. They need their daddy. I really hope someone out there decides to help. What better gift can you give someone than their life?

If I or a loved one needed a kidney and had no donors who could help in my circle of friends/family, I’d pray every day that a kind stranger would see what giving a piece of themselves could do for a person, a family, a whole circle of people.

Amazing poetry! Jeff shoulda been a poet! Of course, that wouldn’t have paid for Lach’s insatiable appetite for tacos, quesadillas, or every food for that matter… 🙂

Thanks, Jay, for the awesome post about our awesome friend. I don’t know you personally, but anyone who cares about Jeff like this gets gold stars in my book!!

Brilliant. Good looking kids too, and he’s training them right. That last photo tells it all.

And yes, I am a full organ donor. Says so on my drivers license.

    Thanks!
