I found you through the food critic report on “Camp Taco” in today’s Houston Chronicle. I have not been able to find my favorite Mexico City- style foods in Houston. In particular, I am always looking for “tacos al pastor”, the real Mexican kind with seasoned pork, cooked on a trompo and garnished with pineapple, onions, cilantro and lime. Some places have something similar, but always beef rather than pork. The article today mentioned that there was a Houston city regulation that makes trompo harder to find??? What is that? I live in Ft Bend County, so anywhere you could steer me would be greatly appreciated. I am also in search of great consomme de pollo – con pollo, and chicharron de queso. I can’t handle all the Tex-Mex smothering of flavors with super hot peppers and melty yellow cheese. Muchisimas Gracias and Buen Provecho!
